Rally Report

Country and Western Rally at Ingoldmells Thursday 12th to 15th March 2020

37 motorhomes booked into the Royal Arthur Centre Ingoldmells on a cold windy day, we were greeted by Brian, Yvonne and first time Stewards Ian and Jean.In the evening it was the usual bingo & quiz followed by lots of chat.We welcomed Peter & Marie from Anglia, Trevor & Carol Nene Valley and first time East Midlands members Frank & Valerie Egerton.

Friday after coffee some members made their way to the bus stop for a trip to Skegness or beyond. Others had a leisurely stroll down to the beach, some shops were open, others filling their shelves ready for the summer season. Friday evening saw us celebrating St Patrick, members duly dressed in shades of green with numerous shapes and sizes of silly hats. The stewards had prepared hot dogs & mushy peas, thank you to Dave & Mandy for your help. There followed a St Patrick’s quiz which and had us all putting on our thinking caps. What can I say about the Karaoke session which followed, absolutely brilliant, thank you all who took part. The session ended with the Tena ladies version of Country Roads, which had everyone on the dance floor.

Saturday was a free day, the little café across the road did a roaring trade, with breakfasts and lunchtime meals. Country & Western on Saturday night brought out the cowboy hats and checked shirts. Our artist Pete Jones soon had the line dancers on the floor. He played a variety of music and by the end of the night, had everyone who wanted to dancing.

Coffee morning Sunday, raffle time Dave & Mandy produced 12 winning tickets, fair to say they didn’t claim all the prizes. Time to say thank you to the Stewards and all who had helped at what was a truly enjoyable rally. Ian & Jean took to the role of Stewards like a duck to water, and we hope they will take on the role again.

Members were asked to keep an eye on web page & Facebook for any changes to the rally programme due to the Coronavirus. We said our goodbyes not knowing when we see each other again.
